On Monday evening, December 7, the Homewood Museum hosted the event “Homewood by Candlelight,” an annual event held during the holiday season. The house, which was beautifully lit throughout by candlelight, was decorated by the Homeland Garden Club. Guests were treated to live music from students at the Peabody Conservatory in the reception hall and refreshments were served in the historic home’s wine cellar.
The new exhibition, “Curating the Carrolls,” the work of students in the Museums & Society course Curating Homewood, was also on display. This exhibition featured objects from the museum’s collection that were personal items of the Carroll family, including furniture, books, and ceramics. “Curating the Carrolls” is on display at the Homewood Museum through March 20, 2016.
This one-night event was a unique way to experience the Homewood Museum, but the museum is open for tours every Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4pm.
